Is the Modena Training Centres an accredited/registered institution?
Any and all Education and Training Providers must be registered and accredited by the relevant regulatory bodies. Modena is an Autodesk Authorised Training and Certification Centre and also a Certiport Examination Centre. Our accreditation certificates are available upon request
Is Modena Design Centres (Pty) Ltd accredited by a SETA?
Yes, we have been awarded accreditation by the Merseta, which is the SAQA registered ETQA (Education & Training Quality Assurance Body) for the following sectors: metal and engineering,auto manufacturing,motor retail and component manufacturing,tyre manufacturing and the plastics industries. Our accreditation number is 17-QA/ACC/1220/16. We are also in the process of our extension of scope applications with the Construction SETA and MICT.

What is the difference between accreditation and registration?
The term ‘registration’ is associated with the right to practice. The term ‘accreditation’ is associated with theability to practice. Providers are registered with the Department of Education, and are accredited by an ETQA. Qualifications are registered by SAQA on the NQF. Learning Programmes are accredited by an ETQA.
What is the difference between a qualification and a learning programme?
A qualification is an outcome of learning; whereas a learning programme is the process one embarks on to fulfill requirements to achieve the outcome. Providers offer learning programmes that lead to qualifications.
What is SAQA?
SAQA is the South African Qualifications Authority. There is no such thing as accreditation from SAQA. The role of SAQA is to register qualifications on the NQF.
What is the NQF?
The NQF is the National Qualifications Framework. The purpose of the NQF is to give national recognition to those who have acquired skills and knowledge. SAQA coordinates processes and structures to register qualifications on the NQF.
What is an ETQA?
An ETQA is a SAQA-accredited Education & Training Quality Assurance Body. ETQA’s are responsible for monitoring and auditing standards of providers and qualifications within their areas of scope.
What is HE?
HE is Higher Education and refers to learning programmes that are higher than NQF level 4.
What is a SETA?
SETA stands for Sector Education and Training Authority. A SETA’s main purpose is to contribute to the improvement of skills in South Africa. At present there are 23 SETAs that service the various sectors and industries in South Africa. In addition, each SETA has been registered by SAQA as the ETQA for their sector(s).
What is Umalusi?
Umalusi is the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education & Training. Umalusi is an ETQA and is responsible for ensuring that education and training providers deliver and assess qualifications and learning programmes to set standards of quality. Providers that offer programmes across a variety of sectors apply to Umalusi for accreditation.
What is a skills programme?
A skills programme is a short learning programme that is occupationally-based and when completed, provides a learner with credits towards an NQF qualification. It is made up of one or more unit standards that are found within a qualification.
What is a short programme?
A short programme is a programme that contains less than 120 credits Some short programmes are aligned with Unit standards on the NQF and others are not.
What is a learnership?
A learnership is not a qualification. It is a structured learning programme that includes provider-based training and workplace experience. Learnerships have replaced the previous system of apprenticeships. They are offered through workplaces and are registered and coordinated through SETA’s.
What is a Unit Standard?
Qualifications are made up of a number of unit standards. Unit standards provide the basis for judgments and assessments that are made for specific areas of learning (similar to modules, but more focused).
What is RPL?
RPL stands for Recognition of Prior Learning. This is applied in order to formally recognize a person’s knowledge or skills obtained through formal or informal training, or through on-the-job or life experience.
How big are your class sizes?
Modena offer training courses with a maximum class size of 12 delegates. We recommend 12 people per course because we have learnt this is the optimum number to maximise learning and ensure enough individual time with the trainer. Where class sizes exceed 10 delegates we will look to add an additional training facilitator.
Are the courses aimed at Companies only?
Our public scheduled courses are open to everyone and are often attended by individuals and those being sent on behalf of companies. Customised Training Courses are on offer for educational institutions and government departments.
What times do the courses run?
Our scheduled courses run from 8h30am to 4pm each day. With customised courses we can be more flexible with regards to the start and finish times.
How do I book a course?
Once you have decided which course you would like to attend, please call our training team on 011 463 1553 who will confirm availability and reserve you a place over the phone. Payment can be made over the phone by credit/debit card or by internet transfer. If you require an account set up for your company, please ask one of our training coordinators for further information. Once a course booking has been confirmed our training coordinator will email over your course confirmation and detailed instructions
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No – Our training rooms are set up class room style providing each person with a training machine that has the relevant course software already installed. Our costs include training material, lunch and refreshments throughout the course.
What happens after the course has finished?
Each person who attends a course will receive 3-months post training support. This literally means that when you go back to use the software in your own environment, if you need any assistance on one of your own drawings, or have forgotten something covered on the course, you can log a call with our customer service team and one of our trainers will call you back and help you out over the phone.
Where are the courses held?
Classroom based training: We have training centres across South Africa (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town) and in Namibia (Windhoek) On Site training: We are able to deliver training on site in your offices.
Is parking available?
Parking is available at all our training centres
Can you come to our offices?
On-Site training: We are able to deliver training on site in your offices.
What is your cancellation/postponement policy?
CANCELLATION POLICY
Without Costs:
If you advise us BY EMAIL at least SEVEN calendar days before the course.
PAY 50% OF THE COURSE FEE:
If you advise us BY EMAIL less than SEVEN calendar days, but more than 24 hours before the course
PAY 100% OF THE COURSE FEE:
If you advise us BY EMAIL less than 24 hours before the start of the scheduled course, OR if the delegate is ABSENT without notification.
POSTPONEMENT POLICY
Without Costs:
If you advise us BY EMAIL more than THREE working days before the course
WITH ADDITIONAL FEE (R1,500 PER DELEGATE):
If you advise us BY EMAIL THREE or less working days before the course starts, or if the delegate is ABSENT without notification, but still wants the option of postponement.
Do I get a certificate after the course?
Modena is an Autodesk Authorised training centre and you will receive an Autodesk certificate of attendance on completion of training that is industry recognised. If you are interested in a formal qualification, we are also a Autodesk Certification Centre and offer Autodesk Certification Exams (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Fusion 360, Max, Maya, AutoCAD Civil 3D). Modena also offers a unique electronic assessment post-training which can give you a detailed report of competence. This report can be used as a benchmarking tool, and provide a helpful skills gap analysis.
